Coat of Arms of His Excellency

The upper section bears the red color background which signifies blood and the sacrifice of being a Servant of Christ, who is symbolized by the acrostic that literally means “fish” but stands for IESOUS CHRISTOS THEOn U UIOS SOTER (which means “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior”). Such sacrifice can be borne because of LOVE, hence, the red color.

Below the fish figure is the sea which represents the bishop’s great responsibility to God’s People. The three blue lines symbolize faithfulness to the three virtues by which this responsibility is to be accomplished: FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY.

The lower left section features bamboos (“cauayan”) representing the town of Meycauayan where the bishop grew up, and the cotton ball (“bulak”) representing the province of Bulacan where Meycauayan is located. The cotton buds looks like a carabao head symbolic of Bulacan as mainly agricultural land. The yellow background signifies vitality which characterizes the Bulakeños.

The upper left section presents the emblem of Our Lady (MA) signifying the bishop’s great devotion to Our Lady, Patroness of The Diocese of Malolos. The white background represents Mary’s Immaculate Conception.

The lower right section presents the Coat of Arms of the Diocese of Kalookan.

Taken together, the yellow and white colors of the lower section represents the Vatican flag suggests the universal scope of the Catholic Church to which the bishop gives himself totally. Hence, the motto is TOTIUS SERVUS CHRISTI (Servant of the Whole Christ).
